Why should you Join our Board?
  • Experience: Being a Board member can provide you with valuable experience which you can use in your current position or a future one. Your responsibilities as a Board member can help you establish confidence in your abilities and expose you to experiences that you may not otherwise have.

  • Networking opportunities: Board members network with other professionals in the community through social, networking, and fundraising events.

  • Personal fulfillment: By serving on a non-profit organization’s board, you’re making a difference. Your efforts allow us to host our annual “Come As You Are” Festival, which is a family-friendly festival that promotes unity, equality and community intergration for LGBTQ and allies. A portion of the proceeds from this festival are given to a local non-profit organization to support their mission. You help decide who receives these proceeds.

  • Skills: Being a Board member can also help expand your skills. Naturally develop your leadership, communication, organization and negotiation skills as you spend time on the Board.

What will you do as a board member?
  • Represent the North Texas Pride Foundation in a professional manner at social, networking and fundraising events throughout the community.

  • Be an active participant in the planning and execution of our annual “Come As You Are” Festival.

  • Assist with the planning and execution of other events that North Texas Pride may host or participate in.

  • Solicit sponsorships and donations in support of our mission and vision.

  • Regularly attend and actively participate in meetings. The Board meets a minimum of once a month.

  • Volunteer for and willingly accept assignments and complete them thoroughly and in a timely manner.

  • Be informed about committee and Board matters and be well prepared for meetings by reviewing minutes and reports.

  • Build a collegial working relationship with other Board members that contributes to consensus.

  • Discharge your duties in good faith, with ordinary care and in a manner you reasonably believe to be in the best interest of the foundation.

  • Commit to a two-year term.
